Inventor Bernie Hanning
Product Description The Oybike System comprises four components: a mobile phone for user communication, a homeport locking rental station, a bicycle with locking cable permanently attached, and an automated call centre with integrated computer system. Release codes are obtained via SMS and details are keyed into the homeport to release the bike. When the bike is returned the locking cable is engaged in the unit which provides a termination of hire code and finalises the billing process.
Markets/Application An initial network of rental stations have been established in Hammersmith and Fulham. In recent months Oybike have extended the system to more London Boroughs and received expressions of interest for installation in major European cities including Paris, Lyon and Manchester.

Inventor David Hornsby
Product Description Groundhog is a moulded plastic insert with a perforated base that fits inside the bottom of a cafetière. The insert, which holds the coffee grains, is placed inside the cafetière and hot water is added in the usual way. As the cafetière plunger is pressed down, the coffee grains are pushed back into the Groundhog. When fully depressed the plunger grips the inside edge of the Groundhog, which is then easily removed with the filter after use, containing all the waste grains.
Markets/Application Groundhog fits all current standard sized cafetières, and can be used for all kinds of infused drinks. It avoids any mess and is environmentally friendly. It may be sold pre-packed and sealed with ready-to-make beverage portions.

Inventor Sebastian Jenkins and Lily Cummings
Product Description A kit consisting of a microelectronic control system, electronic circuits for driving powerful DC electric motors, and a user control panel and software system. The kit allows the conversion of a wide range of manual industrial machines, including traditional machine tools such as lathes and milling machines, to numerical control operation. Linking one or more kits to an external “host” computer system is an option. Most parts of the kit are standardised for easy assembly, with just simple mounting adapters differing to suit various types of machine.
Markets/Application This system will place modern technology and improved productivity within the reach of budget-limited small businesses and technical education schemes.
Stage Reached Experimental proof of principle, prototype under construction.
IP Protection Copyright on software.

Inventor Andrew Cordani
Product Description Midisticks represent a completely new take on the Electronic Percussion Instrument. They are capable of rapidly identifying several materials (e.g. wood, card, ceramic, rubber, note-pad, etc.), and generating an assignable sound or effect (MIDI message) dependant on the type of material and the force in which is is struck. For example, tapping Midisticks on a mouse mat could generate a snare drum sound, tapping a pad of paper plays a tom-tom sound, a coaster a cymbal sound.
Markets/Application Drummers for both practice & rehearsal (the prototypes have been used in live performances), home studio, and education, as well as a ‘Stress Buster’ gadget. The patent covers similar technology that may have further applications (e.g. games market, material analysis).
Stage Reached In development (demonstrations available).
IP Protection Patent granted.
Objectives Seeking partners for commercialisation.

Inventor David Aviram
Product Description A frameless construction system of stressed skin panels. Suitable for a multitude of building applications where a structural joint is made by means of a new interlocking jointing device, which forms part of the panel frame and which latches with an adjacent panel frame when the panels are assembled. The technology eliminates the need for a separate skeletal structural frame by having the parts of the frame embedded within the panels. Upon panel assembly, a structural member is made between adjoining panel edges.
Markets/Application The system is lightweight, comes flat packed and can be rapidly assembled and demounted. The panels can be reused for different applications by re-assembly into new structural forms, thereby adding versatility of design and use.
Stage Reached Prototype.
IP Protection Patents pending.
Objectives Seeking partners for commercialisation.
